Upstream Process Optimization – Putting it all in the mix – 6PM CET/12PM EST

Webinars

With the growing need of globally accessible therapeutics and the upcoming surge in Biosimilars the competitive pressure is promising to become fierce. The industry is challenged on finding innovative, more complex and better treatments for a broader selection of indications while joining the race of being the first to commercialize. This places new challenges to clinical and process development departments in regards of being faster, more flexible and more knowledgeable to address rapid execution at lower cost.

Getting a better knowledge of the process and all variable elements included can significantly improve the development stages and facilitate a shorter time-to-market. Process parameters, cells and cell culture media interact in a challenging way to define the productivity and quality of the protein output. We are going to discuss the experiences we collected with CHOptimizer, a process-integrated media service co-provided by Lonza and Sartorius, and will highlight a new way of thinking about cell culture media in the upstream process and what benefits it can bring to our customers.

In a discussion with Michael Gillmeister, Lead Media Development Scientist at Lonza, we will investigate how advances in media development, understanding of the cells and co-optimization of process and media can lead to a significant reduction of development time, higher productivity and a reduced risk.

Join and challenge us to find out how these principles can be applied to your processes and why you might not have taken all optimization possibilities into account, yet.

This webinar will be presented live twice at:
– 10AM CET/9AM GMT
– 6PM CET/12PM EST
Please register for the most suitable time.

Presented by

Andreas Wiesner,

Global Product Manager Protein Production Media Services, Sartorius Stedim Biotech

Andreas has been working on industrial cell culture processes for the last 9 years in the fields of bioprocessing, cell therapy and diagnostics. He has broad experience on addressing the challenges of autologous and allogeneic batch production processes in collaboration with industrial customers, establishing partnerships to develop end-to-end manufacturing solutions.

In his current position as Global Product Manager for Protein Manufacturing Media Services he is looking beyond the liquid and powder in bags to establish integrated solutions providing a greater benefit than the sum of their components for the biopharmaceutical upstream market.

Michael Gillmeister,

Lead Media Development Scientist, Lonza

Michael received his Ph.D. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University in collaboration with the University of Maryland School of Medicine and Gibco® specializing in glycosylation, transient protein production, and neurobiology.

Since 2009, Mike has been responsible for development of next-generation media and sera replacements. He is leading media and process customization projects to modulate product quality and maximize titer using cell line development screening, high-throughput, and bioreactor technologies. Currently, Mike leads Protein Expression Media R&D and the CHOptimizer® media optimization service for Lonza Walkersville.
